I TURNING, VISIBLE AS /MOONLIGHT/
BOTANICAL, NOT AS SUPPLE VOICE
– sound and sculptural installation, 2018
In her presentation at soft/WALL/studs Nina takes another look at the entanglements between writing, choreography and the notion of cultivation. As a second reformulated iteration of her work We are looking at this scene and our view suddenly starts to slide, presented earlier this year at Peninsular, she strives to resituate an Ancient Greek mourning rite of Adonia within the present community of soft/WALL/studs. The developed materials reflect on the proto-feminist nature of the rite as well as the potential for abstracted experiences to propagate amongst various bodies particularly through engagement of empathy.
Why not keep company to a shriveled garden, or to gather around a fragrance that lingers through the room? Multiple proposals inhabit the space of soft/WALL/studs, temporarily resting it’s ground amongst the traces of all the past events that affected the location and it’s visitors.
The soundtrack was created as a collaboration with L/HT/T/TT.
